Read Everything in Cursor
Connect the public Everything wiki to Cursor using a global or project MCP configuration.
If you use Cursor for programming or research, Everything can become a reference source your agent consults while working. You can ask it to read and compare public articles without opening a separate browser.
Configure Cursor
Open Cursor → Customize → MCP, or edit an MCP configuration file directly.
- For all your projects, use
~/.cursor/mcp.json. - For only one project, use
.cursor/mcp.jsoninside that project.
Create the file if necessary. If it already contains other servers, add the everything entry without overwriting them:
{
"mcpServers": {
"everything": {
"url": "https://everything.emlynoregan.com/mcp/"
}
}
}
This connects to a server hosted by Everything; it is not a command to run on your machine. Do not add credentials or an invented authorization header.
Save the file, refresh the MCP server list (or restart Cursor), and confirm that everything appears as enabled. Allow the tool call if Cursor asks for permission.
Check it
In a Cursor Agent chat, ask:
Use the Everything MCP
get_pagetool to open/topics/software-and-agents. Tell me which collection it introduces. Do not use web search.
The page should be titled Software & Agents and link to Beyond the Application.
Everyday uses
You can ask Cursor to explain an article alongside code you are writing, compare two arguments, or use a public Everything page as context for a design discussion. When accuracy matters, ask it to provide the source page URL and distinguish the page's statements from its own suggestions.
This server provides public reading only for visitors. No Everything username, API key or separate installation is required. If the tool isn't selected automatically, mention everything or get_page explicitly.
Full client instructions are in the Cursor MCP documentation.
